Air source heat pumps · with Sureline Plumbing & Heating
Heat pumps, done by a heating company and an electrical company together.
A heat pump is half a plumbing job and half an electrical job, so we deliver it with our partner Sureline Plumbing & Heating: they fit the heating system, we fit the electrics and integrate it with solar and battery. One design, one quote, one team, and the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant applied for on your behalf.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme
£7,500
government grant, deducted from your quote
Typically £2,500 to £6,500 to pay
after the grant, for a £10,000 to £14,000 installation
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays £7,500 towards an air source heat pump replacing a fossil-fuel boiler in England and Wales, and £9,000 for homes on oil or LPG with no mains gas (applications 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027). It is paid to the installer, so you never see it: it simply comes off the price. Vanadium holds the MCS heat pump certification, so we check eligibility at survey and make the application ourselves. How it works
Survey, design, heating, electrical. Same order every time.
- 01
Heat-loss survey
A room-by-room heat-loss calculation, not a rule of thumb. It sizes the heat pump, checks your radiators and pipework, and tells you honestly whether a heat pump suits the house.
- 02
Design and grant
We design the system and, as the MCS-certified heat pump installer, confirm your Boiler Upgrade Scheme eligibility and make the grant application ourselves. If you are adding solar or a battery, it is all one design.
- 03
Sureline install the heating
Sureline Plumbing & Heating fit the outdoor unit, cylinder, pipework and any radiator upgrades. Gas Safe and heat-pump specialists we have worked with for years.
- 04
Vanadium do the electrical
Our NAPIT electricians run the supply, connect the unit and notify the network operator, then commission everything alongside Sureline and hand over with the app set up.
Heat pump + solar + battery
The cheapest heat is the heat you make from your own roof.
A heat pump turns one unit of electricity into three or four units of heat. Feed it from solar in the shoulder months and from a battery charged overnight on a cheap tariff in winter, and the running cost drops well below gas. Because we design solar, batteries and the heat pump electrics as one system, the sizing is right first time.
- One heat-loss and energy survey covering the whole house
- One DNO application for heat pump, solar and battery together
- One scaffold, one schedule, one handover

Our partner
Sureline Plumbing & Heating.
Sureline are a local heating firm who have installed heat pumps with us on a string of Dorset homes. They bring the heating design, cylinder and pipework expertise; we bring the electrical, the design software and the project management. Their jobs run through the same system ours do, so you can see progress and nothing is lost between two companies.
Good to know
Heat pump questions.
How much does an air source heat pump cost?
Most homes come in between £10,000 and £14,000 installed before the grant, depending on the unit, cylinder and how many radiators need upgrading. After the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant that is typically £2,500 to £6,500, or £1,000 to £5,000 if you are on oil or LPG and qualify for the £9,000 rate. We hold the MCS certification and make the application.
Will a heat pump work in my house?
Most homes with reasonable insulation and space for an outdoor unit are suitable. The heat-loss survey gives a straight answer before you commit, including whether any radiators or the hot water cylinder need changing.
Who actually does the work?
Sureline Plumbing & Heating install the heating side and Vanadium do the design, electrical and MCS side, including the grant application. You have one quote, one schedule and one point of contact throughout.
Can I combine it with solar and a battery?
Yes, and it is the combination that makes the numbers work best. A heat pump is your biggest electrical load, so running it from your own solar or off-peak stored power cuts the running cost sharply. We design all of it together.
Which heat pumps do you fit?
Daikin Altherma, Vaillant aroTHERM, Mitsubishi Ecodan and Midea are the units we specify most, chosen for efficiency, noise levels and UK support.
Do you service heat pumps?
Yes. An annual service keeps the warranty valid and the efficiency up. We remind you when it is due and can add it to a maintenance plan.
