DNO applications

Getting the grid to say yes.

Every generator, battery and large new load needs the network operator's agreement. We prepare and submit the applications, answer the technical questions and manage the process with SSEN and other DNOs until you have the connection offer in hand.

Applications

What we handle.

House extension with solar panels on the roof and a Tesla Powerwall 3 on the brick wall

Timescales

What to expect.

We usually submit within a few working days of having the site details. The DNO then has a statutory window to respond, typically up to 45 working days for a G99 application, and new supply quotations follow their own timescales. We chase on your behalf and keep you updated.

  • Application prepared and submitted by us
  • Statutory response window managed and chased
  • Connection offer explained in plain English
  • Works coordinated with the installation

Good to know

Common questions.

Do I need a G99 application for a battery?

Most battery systems exceed the G98 limit once combined with solar, so a G99 application is usually needed before the system can be connected. We assess it and apply for the right one.

Can you apply for a supply upgrade on a house?

Yes. Typical reasons are an EV charger plus a heat pump, or an electric shower and hob on a small fuse. We check whether load management would avoid the upgrade first.

Is this only for systems you install?

No. We prepare DNO applications as a stand-alone service for other installers, developers and property owners.
